He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Psalm 23:3 KJV
God’s plan for us (you and I) is to have life and that abundantly. It is not God’s will for us to ration on life or live an austere, harsh life. His plan for life is boisterous, lavish, and borderless. God wants us to live a life that is truly grand and auspicious.
Jesus puts it thus, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy, I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
Notice how Jesus identifies the character of the life he envisages and delivers to us. He came, that they (we) might have life, and that they (we) might have it more abundantly. It must be our good intent and pursuit to realize and truly experience this life and lifestyle desired and designed for us. That’s achieving God’s plan for life. (Praise the Lord!)
However, it is commonplace and pervading experience that grief and peril do assail and assault many lives, in fact, and sadly so too, it is the most common experience.
But Jesus identifies the root of this untoward and perilous pattern, “the thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy…”, Jesus says. So, when we observe or experience a life pattern or character that is adverse and hardship, it won’t be difficult to identify who is about and behind that pattern, “the thief” not God.
Beloved, it is against the works of the “thief” that Jesus came, to restore our souls and reinstate us to a life and lifestyle that is characterized by God’s rich plan for life and life that’s abundant. I encourage and charge us to peruse and pursue this truth about life by Christ Jesus. Be restored in Jesus Name.
