For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. Heb. 4:2 KJV
Gospel is God’s message sent to every man including you and me. It is that good message, glad tiding directed towards every man and embraced by those who would go on to believe the great news. It is important to know and note that, the concept, notion and ideal of the Gospel is that of a very personal and direct message by and of God to every man. Therefore, the Gospel would be preached to every man but benefit only those who would believe.
About the reach of the Gospel, the Bible says, “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. (Matt. 24:14 KJV). This is God’s testimony that all nations shall have the opportunity and gracious privilege to hear God’s good message; a message of hope, deliverance and salvation. It is noteworthy that everyman takes the notice and preaching of this good message important and personal as this is the intent and end (purpose) of the Gospel.
Talking about the Gospel as God’s message of glad tidings, the Bible says about and at the birth of our blessed Lord and Savior concerning the great message of salvation, “And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord”. (Luke 2:9-11 KJV). Notice, the good tidings of great joy, is to all people, including you and me.
Beloved, the good news is, there is good news from God to you, to me; a Gospel, God’s message of glad tidings to you and to me. We, each must hear and own our respective Gospel, God’s message, word and tidings to you and me respectively. According to the Scriptures, we enter rest when we believe the gospel shared with and directed at us; “For we which have believed do enter into rest,…” (Heb. 4:3 KJV)
