Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord (2 Peter 1:2 KJV)
The knowledge of God is both key and keen to Man’s wellness and goodness. God desires it and Man needs it. The knowledge of God is the prima delight of God in Man. God wants us to know Him personally and intimately.
About making any boast, the Bible does not approve any vagarious boasting except in the knowledge of God. The Bible says; “Thus says the Lord, “Let not the one who is wise and skillful boast in his insight; let not the one who is mighty and powerful boast in his strength; let not the one who is rich boast in his [temporal satisfactions and earthly] abundance; but let the one who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows Me [and acknowledges Me and honors Me as God and recognizes without any doubt], that I am the Lord who practices lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on the earth, for in these things I delight,” says the Lord.” (Jer. 9:23-24 AMP). Notice, God delights in that we understand and know Him.
For too long, Man has neglected the pursuit of God and relegated the quest for the knowledge of the Holy One. This vestige and trend has implicated Man’s real growth in truth and purity. Man has advanced in despicable and destructive knowledge to his detriment. Man knows everything but God whereas The Knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. (Prov. 9.10 KJV).
Beloved, we must invest and pursue the knowledge of God. It is the most precious and rewarding pursuit anyone may have one the Earth. Paul the Apostle said something of note about this pursuit when he wrote, “But whatever former things were gains to me [as I thought then], these things [once regarded as advancements in merit] I have come to consider as loss [absolutely worthless] for the sake of Christ [and the purpose which He has given my life]. But more than that, I count everything as loss compared to the priceless privilege and supreme advantage of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord [and of growing more deeply and thoroughly acquainted with Him—a joy unequaled]. For His sake I have lost everything, and I consider it all garbage, so that I may gain Christ” (Phil. 1:7-8 AMP). Note, the knowledge of God has a priceless privilege and supreme advantage. It is a vantage joy to know God; a virtue with strategic advantage.
Talking about the strategic advantage of knowing God, the Bible recorded the classic account of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; three Hebrew men who demonstrated uncanny and uncommon boast in the knowledge of God at the face of extreme cruelty and fiery fatality; they asserted, “our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.” (Daniel 3:17:18 KJV). They well settled and assured in their knowledge of God that no threat could terrify them; the king eventually would testified “…there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.” (Daniel 3:29 KJV) and the three Hebrew men were promoted.
Beloved, the knowledge of God will both save and promote anyone who would hunger and thirst for the Holy One. Please, seek to know the Lord; it shall be health to thy navel and marrow to thy bones. Go for God.
