“For the Egyptians shall help in vain, and to no purpose: therefore have I cried concerning this, Their strength is to sit still.” (Isaiah 30:7 KJV)
Gaining and sharing perspective with God is walking with God: in the true context. According to the Bible, Do two people walk hand in hand if they aren’t going to the same place? (Amos 3:3 MSG), the common and shared destination, point of interest or point of view is what makes walking together both compatible and pleasurable. The mismatch of Man’s perspective with God’s is the bane and crippling pestilence that has maligned Man’s reaching God’s determined destination or point of Interest.
A natural Man does not see things as God does neither can he know them for…they are spiritually discerned (1 Cor. 2:14 KJV). It is upon this bedrock that we must, along with every (other) Word, gain and share God’s perspective of Rest. We need to understand, assimilate, integrate, ingest, digest, etc. into how cognitive and rational system and apparatus God’s notion of Rest.
Rest is a commanded and assigned task for God’s people with punitive and fatal consequence. About Rest, God said to His people, “Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.” (Exo. 31:15-16 KJV).
Notice, Rest was a commanded “task” and that commandment is perpetual …an integral part of our life and living in obedience to God. We must therefore (undertake) Rest as a conscious observance of God’s Holy commandment and a checklist item on God’s assigned task.
As with and in every commandment of God, we must reign in the good stead and notice that every of God’s commandment is intended and directed for our profiting (2 Tim. 3:16) that we may be whole, unbroken and perfect without regressed or blighted functionality. This “Rest” is so intend for us.
Now, unlike the common use of the word rest generally understood as being on bed; useful and necessary as this rest type may be, it’s essentially and merely directed to reinvigorate the body, refresh and relive the body organs but God’s determined Rest is for our whole Being. This Rest is found when our spirit “sleeps” on Him. Akin, to our bodies being laid on Bed, is the relief and revival exposed and experienced when our spirits lay on God. The posture and practice of this activity is what is termed, “Their strength is to sit still…. (Isaiah 30:7 KJV) This is the determined and assigned Rest task by God
Beloved, God requires that our spirits “lay”, rest, quiet or stay on Him. This is important to Him and needed for us. It is “their strength…” God said. It is natural and sequential to project that our unrest of mind and spirit is the product of the despicable evasion and rebellious seclusion from God’s Holy requirement of being still on Him.
Asa said, “And Asa cried unto the Lord his God, and said, Lord, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O Lord our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O Lord, thou art our God; let no man prevail against thee.
Gain strength…REST.
