Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. (James 4:8 KJV)
As God’s Kingdom citizens, we have a common and glorious destination; GOD. We need to be informed, aware, and committed to this notice and indeed note it.
The Christian pilgrimage is truly a journey and is clearly illustrated and typified by the sojourn and traverse of the Jews from Egypt to Canaan, the Promised Land.
The Bible made a very important remark about Canaan when it says, “For the land, whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy seed, and wateredst it with thy foot, as a garden of herbs: But the land, whither ye go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinketh water of the rain of heaven: A land which the LORD thy God careth for: the eyes of the LORD thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.” (Duet. 11:10-12 KJV). Egypt, spiritually represents the World and its composite structure organized and governed by the Prince of this World; satan.
Like the Pharaoh of Egypt, satan makes People’s lives “…bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour.” (Exo. 1:14 KJV). It is to relief and revive Man of/from the rigour of satan that God wants you and I to exit the World and journey to God by receiving Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior.
Beloved, after we receive Christ, we must be found to be making daily progress in this glorious adventure to GOD. Unlike the children of Israel, we cannot look back or reflect on Egypt; a wasteful and ill-fated venture devoid of luster or color.
When a Christian looks back to what God had extracted him/her, the spiritual translation and effect of such inkling is departure from the Lord. Remember Lot’s wife. (Luke 17:32 KJV) rather we must hasten forward always nigh to the God and the spiritual effect of such effect, the Bible says, “…he will draw nigh to you”. AWAKE.
