When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, his face was radiant, and they were afraid to come near him. (Exo. 34:30 NIV)
Glory evidences the presence of God; Glory precedes and envelops all that is and about God. About the Lord, the Bible says, “He alone possesses immortality [absolute exemption from death] and lives in unapproachable light, whom no man has ever seen or can see. To Him be honor and eternal power and dominion! Amen.” (1 Tim. 6:16 AMP); the unapproachable light is the intensity and fierce force of God’s glory that is unapproachable to a carnal or natural man.
It is the eminence of God’s Glory that paralyzed and intimidated Adam’s carnal nature having fallen in Eden that he said, “I heard the sound of You [walking] in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.” (Gen. 3:10 AMP). Man could no longer approach the glory, radiance, splendor and beauty of God being fallen, carnal and impious; Man cried; “I was afraid”. It was also about this majestic splendor that the Prophet Isaiah cried when he saw the Lord’s “train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.” (Is 6:1-5). Glory of the Lord could be overwhelming and drowning for a sinful, undone and unclean person but the delight and pleasure of God is that we share or participate in glory as He has appointed.
About the Glory given to Man, the Psalmist said of the Lord; “When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:” (Psalm 8:3-6 KJV). Man (including you and me) was designed and crowned with glory and honour. This is the delight and pleasure of God about you and me.
Beloved, we must be urgent and passionate about being found in the Glory God designed and intended for us: Glory is our “natural environment” not shame or reproach. We must seek to live in it for our necessary survival as fish would in water. To inherit Glory, we must relate with and revel in God; the source and fount of Glory; Glory exudes from God and He only has Glory. The more time we spend with the Lord, the more time we are immersed in Glory being with Him. Praise the Lord.
The pursuit of God and His presence will naturally translate and elevate anyone to the realm and sphere of Glory unique in God alone. About Moses, the Bibles says; “he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights… When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the covenant law in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the Lord.” Exo. 34:28-29 KJV. Glory had robbed upon Moses being with the LORD. Let’s elevate to the realm of Glory this year and toward spending time with the Lord.
