And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. (1 Cor. 9:25 KJV)
The goal and good interest of God is that we gain Mastery. Mastery is the notion or art of having and gaining control to direct, regulate, and normalize a people, task, or thing. It is the dexterity and insight on how to administrate a potentially challenging situation to obtain a positive and completely resolved outcome.
The Bible recorded the account of the Disciples on a voyage with our blessed Lord Jesus Christ sleeping in the hinder part of Boat and “And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.” A tempestuous storm that threatened the journey and indeed their lives. The Bible further says, “… and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?” (Mark 4:38 KJV) Notice, they called him, “Master”.
Master must gain mastery over potentially challenging situation to obtain a positive and completely resolved outcome. Being called upon, the Bible says, “And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?” (Mark 4: 39-40 KJV)
Beloved, the goal and good interest of God is that we gain mastery over all potentially adverse situation and normalize them and not be so fearful. We need to be equipped as Jesus was to arise and challenge what arises against us, family, colleagues, friends, etc. It is about this good and copious necessity that the Bible insights that we must be temperate in all things. How insightful!
