But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. Matt. 14:30 KJV
Outlook is required to outlast.
Outlook or Point of view is central to one’s lifestyle, choice or preference as it is the mainframe of one’s conduct. Outlook is the differentiating element of how two or more people see (respond or react) to the same object of view. Outlook is how one sees things and not what things are seen. Take Note.
The issue of outlook is very important and central to how and what we choose. It is derived and driven by one’s knowledge and understanding of the truth. It is these elements (knowledge and understanding of the truth) that explain how one responds to a situation and selects a course of action.
In the reference scripture and storyline, the disciples saw a figure at the fourth watch of the night and being troubled by their outlook, they were fear-full for they saw (imagined) the figure was a spirit but they were very wrong in their outlook for that figure was rather their friend, mentor and leader; The Lord Jesus. This storyline well illustrates the notion of outlook. It must be understood that what is seen is not as central as how things are seen. We must get and gain this truth.
In the case and context of the reference story, what brought the disciples into fear is their outlook (point of view) and not what they were looking at (object of view). Akin to how in this instance, the object of view was blurred by the outlook of the disciples and thereby they became fearful, so has the outlook of many blurred the reality of some important object of view, thereby making light or fun of issues about which they should be more fearful and cautious.
Unbelief, sin and disregard for the law and commandment of God are classic examples of actions and activities with grave and far-reaching consequences that our World and Societies’ outlook (view) have made light whereas these must be viewed as serious as they are in reality. We cannot forsake, object or reject the Laws of God, make light of what God takes serious and expect to live. For the wages, compensation for sin (wrong doing) is death. (Romans 6:23 KJV)
As the Bible story continued, Jesus helped the outlook of the disciples as was recorded, “But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.” And Peter gained confidence to approach The Lord Jesus “walking on water” except for his weak and blasted outlook he was not sustained. He (again) saw the wind boisterous; different situation but the same outlook; outlook of fear void of Faith and of course that outlook caused him to cave-in and buckle.
Thank God for the outlook of our Lord Jesus, who shared the same occasion but had a different outlook and identified Peter’s problem, “O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?” (Matt. 14:31 KJV) What is your outlook? How do you see things? Do you see God or Ghost? Note; outlook is not what is being viewed but how things are view. Do you see the cup half full or half empty?
Beloved, let’s strive to gain God’s outlook, see how God sees…walk by His conclusions (commandments); Great calm will marinate our lives.
