Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way (John 4:50)
Turning point is the point at which a new turn is made. It is the pivot, hinge or axle that made the turn possible. This is a very cognitive fact about which we shall do well to understand.
Life’s trend and occurrences are traceable to some turning point; the instance at which some new events, trends or occasions are incepted. It is this turning point that must inform the response or reaction necessary to allow or disallow the trend now incepted.
Take for instance, a healthy virile person who upon his last meal, turned ill, sick and sickly. It is no folly to trace the turning point of the new sickly trend to that last meal. The content and context of the last meal becomes a subject of investigation to gain clarity of what in the meal triggered the ‘new’ trend in the health of the affected person. The assessment or diagnosis of the cause of illness is the necessary cognitive inference required for treatment and reversal of the unhealthy trend. Notice something profound in reversing the ill health trend is Treatment!
Treatment is introducing a new element or factor that will halt, terminate and reverse the cause, trend and course of the ill health and introduce or incept a new turn that restores wellness and wholeness. The element of the treatment now becomes a “turning point” for the health and wellness of the patient. In the event that health of the patient is not restored despite treatment, then the “type” of treatment is considered ineffective and new treatment is sought until a “turning point” is reached.
Beloved, the concept described fitly illustrates the pattern and model of Man’s life. Everyone has experienced multiple and multifarious turning points in life and life’s course. Some turns are good, pleasant and delightsome, others are simply trajectorially dismal and depressing about which a new turning point is apically sought and desired.
This was the context of the man who came to Jesus, seeking a “turning point” in the life and health of his son. The Bible says, “When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.” (John 4:47). Like this man, many do seek solution frantically for a turning point in life, health, career, Ministry, marriage, etc. except unlike this man, they have not heard of Jesus or having heard of Jesus would not venture going to Him.
To retract Men, from seeking “turning point” from “turn-away point” Saints must proclaim the verity of help and salvation in Jesus Christ. We must help our friends, families and favorites by introducing them to the “Day Star” (2 Peter 1:19) – the sure great and good turning point for life’ fortune and fortress – Jesus Christ who is described as the “Word of God”. (Rev. 19:13).
Notice the Bible says, “When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him.…” People can only come to Jesus for the much needed and apically sought “turning point” when they hear about him. About that man, the Bible concluded, “he began to amend… at the same hour, in which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.” (John 4:51-53)
