So the Lord alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him. (Deut. 32:12 KJV)
It is noble and grandiose adventure to be led by God; “…the only true God.” (John 17:4 KJV)
It is important to gain notice and good understanding of the characteristics of God or gods as one may assume to worship, serve, or follow. This notion of having a god is not as simple as may the naturally conceived or approached. It is far (and quite very far) more complex, intricate and complicated than Man free and thoughtless explore. Choosing a god is greatly spiritual with far reaching effect and consequences.
When Israel left Egypt, the Bible described an incident about which Israel had chosen another god for herself. Moses had gone up to the mountain to be with God for some 40 days at the time. The Bible says, “And the Lord said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves: They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. (Exo. 32:7-8 KJV).
Note what God said about the people choosing and worshipping a molten calf of whom Israel said “These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt”; God said to Moses, the people have corrupted themselves. Choosing, worshipping, and serving a god does bring a drastic and compulsive alteration to any people. This is very important to note and understand. There is a major shift, transition, and changeover when what appears to be a simple activity will begin to assume and project occasion that is far greater than may have been conceptualized.
Consider what was thought to be a simple show of hand and making the confessions the followed when at some time we decided, chose, elected to give our lives to Christ. The key event that happened at that instance was that we chose a new god different from what we had worshipped or served prior to that moment. When the confession to receive, serve and have Jesus Christ as our Lord and personal Savior was made, we could never have imagine what seed was sown, what fire was ignited, what light was kindle at that seamless moment (which in reality was not seamless) until we begin to experience the propitious alluding consequences of choosing a new god who fortunately in this case is the ONLY TRUE GOD. The converse would also have been true as was in the case of Israel if a false god was choosing; the unpropitious alluding consequences would not be seamless at all.
Beloved, “…we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness. And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen. (1 John 5:19-21 KJV)
