Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. (Eph. 4:3 NLT)
When God does a thing for us and what thing God does for us; we have a responsibility to keep such thing, maintain it and allow such thing to grow and multiply. This is a very important note and notice. When God created Man, God developed a unique place for Man’s dwelling; a habitation designed and fashioned for Man’s peace, prosperity and wellness, Eden.
About Eden, the Bible says, “Then the Lord God planted a garden in Eden in the east, and there he placed the man he had made. The Lord God made all sorts of trees grow up from the ground—trees that were beautiful and that produced delicious fruit. In the middle of the garden he placed the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. A river flowed from the land of Eden, watering the garden and then dividing into four branches. The first branch, called the Pishon, flowed around the entire land of Havilah, where gold is found. The gold of that land is exceptionally pure; aromatic resin and onyx stone are also found there. The second branch, called the Gihon, flowed around the entire land of Cush. The third branch, called the Tigris, flowed east of the land of Asshur. The fourth branch is called the Euphrates. The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it. But the Lord God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden— except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.” (Gen. 2:8-17 NLT)
Notice the effort and details put into the design and composition of Eden, note the description of the land of Havilah; what goodness and beauty that were of Eden and in Eden. This is God’s intension and design about everything He did and does for Man and indeed His creations. Glory is the trail and signature of God’s works. (Praise the Lord)
Note also what Man must do in Eden to keep, maintain, and sustain Eden. Man had a responsibility in Eden; akin to everything God does in our respective lives and ventures including the blessed salvation of our souls, the unity of our homes, fellowships and Churches. We are both accountable and responsible. There are things to which we must commit doing (continually) and things we must refrain from doing (continually) to retain, sustain and maintain the doings of God in our lives. About Unity, the Bible prescribes; Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. (Eph. 4:3 NLT).
Beloved, what effort are we making to keep ourselves united in our homes, workplaces, fellowships, and Churches? Notice: we must, “Make every effort…” to derive the goodness and pleasantness inherit in brethren dwelling together in unity. The Lord grant us good understanding in Jesus Name.
